Emergency department at Bethesda Hospital: immediate help for obstetrics, gynaecology and the musculoskeletal system

In our emergency department, we are available to your patients for women's medicine (gynaecology) and obstetrics around the clock, 365 days a year, without prior appointment.for musculoskeletal emergencies, we are available for your patients every day from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm and guarantee immediate specialist treatment - no prior appointment is necessary.

Important to know: Between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., we only treat emergencies in gynaecology and obstetrics. Emergencies are prioritised so that life-threatening situations receive immediate attention.

If you are unsure, you are welcome to call us in advance.

We take care of the following emergencies:

  • Your patient has been treated by us and is experiencing severe symptoms at home.
  • We are always available for your patients in all gynaecological and obstetric emergencies.

Seltene Immunerkrankung: Rheumatologie am Bethesda-Spital bringt neues Wissen

Prof. Stephan Gadola publiziert im internationalen Fachjournal zur MHC-Klasse-I-Defizienz.

Ein intaktes Immunsystem ist für unsere Gesundheit lebenswichtig. Doch was passiert, wenn wichtige Funktionen des Systems defekt sind? Eine aktuelle Publikation von Stephan Gadola, Chefarzt der Klinik Rheumatologie und Schmerzmedizin am Bethesda Spital, beleuchtet genau dieses Thema – und rückt eine seltene Immunerkrankung mit dramatischen Folgen für Betroffene ins Licht der Forschung.

In Zusammenarbeit mit anderen internationalen Expert:innen wurde ein umfassender Übersichtsartikel zum Syndrom der MHC-Klasse-I-Defizienz veröffentlicht, welches vor 25 Jahren von Stephan Gadola klinisch und molekularbiologisch beschrieben wurde. Diese angeborenen Störungen führen zu einer fehlgeleiteten Kommunikation im Immunsystem, wodurch einerseits Infektionen nicht effektiv bekämpft werden können, andererseits Entzündungszellen das eigene Gewebe angreifen. „Diese Erkrankung wird oft mit Autoimmunerkrankungen wie der Granulomatose mit Polyangiitis verwechselt – was zu falschen Therapien und schwerwiegenden Komplikationen führen kann“, erklärt Prof Gadola. „Wir möchten aufklären und für eine präzise Diagnostik sensibilisieren. Andererseits haben wir durch die Erforschung des Syndroms wichtige Erkenntnisse zur Regulation des Immunsystems gewinnen können“.

Die in der Publikation zusammengefassten Erkenntnisse basieren auf jahrzehntelanger klinischer und wissenschaftlicher Erfahrung und zeigen eindrücklich, wie wichtig eine individuell angepasste Behandlung ist. Besonders betont wird: Immununterdrückende Therapien sind in diesen Fällen kontraindiziert – entscheidend ist vielmehr die gezielte Infektionskontrolle und langfristige Betreuung.

Dr. med. Rakesh Padiyath wird neuer Verwaltungsratspräsident der Bethesda Spital AG


Die Generalversammlung der Bethesda Spital AG hat Dr. med. Rakesh Padiyath zum neuen Verwaltungsratspräsidenten gewählt. Dr. med. Padiyath, welcher bereits seit längerem dem Verwaltungsrat angehört, übernimmt das Präsidium nach dem Weggang von Dr. Werner Kübler.
 

Neubesetzung des Verwaltungsrats

Mit der Wahl von Dr. med. Rakesh Padiyath zum Direktor des Universitätsspitals Basel wurde eine Neuorganisation des Verwaltungsrats der Bethesda Spital AG notwendig. Die Generalversammlung bestätigte für eine Amtszeit von einem Jahr folgende Zusammensetzung:

  • Vizepräsident: Thomas Mattmann

Mit Prof. Dr. med. Daniel Staub, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) des Universitätsspitals Basel, gewinnt der Verwaltungsrat ein weiteres neues Mitglied mit ausgewiesener medizinischer und strategischer Expertise. Diese Besetzung unterstreicht die enge Verbindung zwischen der Bethesda Spital AG und dem Universitätsspital Basel.
 

Kontinuität und Weiterentwicklung

Die Wahl von Dr. med. Rakesh Padiyath zum Präsidenten gewährleistet Kontinuität in der strategischen Führung der Bethesda Spital AG. Als bisheriges Verwaltungsratsmitglied und Direktor des Universitätsspitals Basel bringt er sowohl interne Kenntnisse als auch neue Impulse für die Weiterentwicklung des Spitals mit.
